Mounts
Which MEQ mount should I choose?
For most utes and 4WDs with a steel roof, the MEQ Premium Magnetic Mount is the go: sleek, stylish and on or off in seconds. If you want the smallest possible footprint, choose the MEQ Compact Bracket, and pick the version with the built-in voltage step up for the cleanest install. For utes with a tray headboard, choose one of our two headboard mounts. For trucks we have magnetic, Reddot cover and Kenworth air horn options. Not sure? Use the Kit Builder.
Will a magnetic mount work on my vehicle?
Magnets only stick to steel. Most ute and 4WD roofs are steel, but some aren't. The LandCruiser 300 Series roof is aluminium, and canopies are often aluminium or fibreglass. Do the fridge-magnet test, and see our roof compatibility guide. If your roof isn't steel, add our Steel Discs.
Can I drive with the magnetic mount fitted?
Yes. The magnets will hold at highway speeds, but our magnetic mounts have been designed for off-road use. Driving with a magnetic mount fitted is solely at the discretion of the driver. Always check the mount is secure before you set off, keep the roof and magnets clean, and remove it before going through a car wash.
Are MEQ mounts made in Australia?
Yes. Our MEQ Premium and MEQ Compact brackets are cut, folded and powder-coated on the Darling Downs in Queensland from high-grade aluminium. We were one of the first to build a Starlink Mini mount in Australia, and we've sold more than 9,000 Starlink mounts.
What colours are available?
The MEQ Premium Magnetic Mount comes in Black, White, Merlot, Toyota Silver and Graphite. The Compact range comes in Black and White.
What does "More being folded and powder-coated – ETA 2 weeks" mean?
That colour has sold out and the next batch is being made. You can still order it and we'll send it as soon as it's ready, usually within 2 weeks.
Power
Do I need a voltage step up?
No, but we highly recommend one to keep a solid, stable connection. A step up keeps your Starlink Mini running on steady power from your vehicle's 12V system, especially over longer cable runs. Our 12V Plug & Play adaptors have our own circuit board with the step up built in, and the MEQ Compact Bracket with step up has it built into the bracket. Read more in Powering your Starlink Mini.
Cig plug, Anderson plug or hardwire?
A cig plug is the quickest: plug in and go. An Anderson plug gives a more solid connection that won't wriggle loose on corrugations. Hardwiring is the neatest, most permanent option. See our hardwire kits and switches, or let us fit it for you.
How long will my battery run a Starlink Mini?
It depends on your battery and how hard the Mini is working. Try our Runtime Calculator for an estimate.
Orders & warranty
What warranty do I get?
MEQ brackets come with a 5 year warranty. Our Plug & Play adaptors and power cables come with a 2 year warranty. The Starlink Mini itself is covered by Starlink's own warranty.
Do I need a Starlink plan?
Yes. A Starlink service plan is needed to use your Starlink Mini. It's bought directly from Starlink through the Starlink app.
Can you fit it for me?
Yes, we can fit it for you. We fit fleets, trucks and everyday vehicles, and we've been fitting out vehicles for over 50 years. Call us on 07 4632 9990 to book in at 330 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba.
